BASKETBALL
Youth Served: 60 (Co-ed); K—8th Grade
Our basketball program runs every Saturday starting from January through ending March each year. The in-house program has been operating for over 20 years and has been described as one of the best instructional basketball programs in the city. The clinic focuses on teaching fundamentals in a fun and competitive environment. Participants practice a basic zone defense, and learn to dribble, pass, shoot, and work as a team. There are 4 weeks of
practicing basic skills and by the 5th week, participants are placed on teams to compete in tournaments.
Camp Friendship’s Basketball Program is televised weekly on BCAT over a 10 week period during the spring. The program can be seen in Brooklyn on BCAT on Saturdays at 11am on Time Warner Cable channel 35, Cablevision channel 68, and streaming live online at www.bcat.tv/bcat. The program’s Head Coach is Robert McCrae, a.k.a., Fish. McCrae, who by day is a manager and 29-year veteran of the New York City Transit Authority, has been involved in the basketball leagues at Camp Friendship for the last 20 years.
